about

Jason - fiddle (GDAE); Rob - mando (GDAE); Brendan - banjo (gDGBD); David - guitar

We close it out with a happier tune, this one sourced to James Meredith, who Bruce Greene recorded in Edmonson County, Kentucky in 1974. We don't know much more about Meredith, or what the title refers to, but the tune bears a very strong resemblance to "Possum Up a Rail" as played by Lonnie Ellis of the Mississippi Possum Hunters in 1930. Meredith's version has a slightly more melodic first part. It's a good tune to whistle to yourself to keep the spirits up when walking home from the dance in the dark on a
moonless night.
